V is for Vendetta??

Z is for Zorro and V is for Vendetta..?? Not in this case.....

V is for Vanity but in this case its Vanity for Charity. When Bodyshop sent out its invitation for the Body Shop Makeover Marathon 2007, I thought this is great. I could do my bit of charity, redeem products and get a makeover for the day.

Last Saturday, Body Shop had organised a 1st ever Charity Makeover Marathon in awareness of Pave - Centre for Promoting Alternatives to Violence where full proceeds from the makeover will be donated to the Pave organization. At the same time Body Shop was also making a history in the Singapore Book of Records for the largest number of people having makeovers over 12 hours.

so there we were and me the "ugly duckling"

So I tag 2 other gals (whom I know are crazy over these kinda stuff) - Aunt Lala and her daughter Nurul. A perfect morning outing for 3 Ms Vainpots! The event started at 10am ending at 10pm which was a good opportunity to get yourself dolled up for any occasion during the day.

Our slot was at 11.25am and we arrived somewhere around 11am for registration. There were others taking this event to have their makeover for Eid visiting. Quite a number turned out in "baju kurungs" and get their pretty faces done up.

this gal passed her exams so she's extra happy that day...

I love my make up artist - she's my Vanity Godmother

Each makeover lasted about 20 to 30mins with a photoshoot session after that. We thought, what the heck after sitting in front of the mirror for a good 30 mins, me and Aunt Lala poised at the stool for that "glam" treatment. Nurul was too shy to join though.

So when the camera girl said - "OK close your leg, sit upright, pull your T-shirt down", Pato was already controlling his laugh and from his look he was going like " Girl.. I thought you should know your stuff in front of the camera..." RRRrriiggghhtttt......

The shopping continued redeeming our vouchers for the Body Shop products but was only limited to make up items and selected beauty care. No perfume!!!!... DANG! Ah well, might as well make full use of whatever they've got there.

We were 3 gleaming gals until when I wanted to check out my products. The confusion of how to redeem the vouchers and the unorganized queue at the check out counter was such a waste of time. I have 3 forty dollars vouchers to redeem and NOBODY told us that you cannot lumpsum the 3 vouchers together so instead of enabling myself to get a wollop of S$120 worth of products, I had to separate into 3 purchases which I think I would understand if any of the salesperson had explain to me clearly when I asked them about the redemption in the first place. As if that was not enough, my episode with the cashier, who was completely clueless and from a different planet could simply replicate a scene of MTV's Boiling Point - difference only, there is NO time limit and definitely no USD100 given to me!!!! So, do your own imagination.......

Obviously I was causing a traffic jam with the queue that I had to turn around and said to the person next to me "Sorry but I'm having a complicated issue here" to which she just smiled and said "Understand" and kept nodding whom witness the incident and whom I just wished sympatised with my state rather than cursing in her mind to still be in the queue.

By the time we're finished, it past lunch time and all of us were simply famished so what's best then all of us getting a treat from Pato in an air-conditioned restaurant to cool down...YES!...before preparing for Eid's visiting ;)
