PHOTOHUNT - Subject : Classic
Its Classic moment this week and whilst I was flipping through "old" album of black and white photos, I looked up and saw this on our sofa back table console......
We like classic old peices around our tiny apartment and few years back I was hunting for this classic old iron. My dad bought it for me from a junk collector and I decided to leave the state of the iron as it rather than trying to polish it.
What amazes me is how the older generation were so skillful using this iron without having the hot coal inside the compartment spilling out, dirtying the white linens. Now that is what you call a CLASSIC SKILL.

it does look attractive and classic.but i imagine it is not as easy or as comfy as the ones we r using today. on the other hand, i dont expect any of the new contraptions to last as the one in yr post.
Ah Bong - hahaha i cannot imagine displaying my Tefal iron on the dashboard 10, 20 years later...hmmmm. Thanks for dropping by
Pearl
Aren't you glad we don't live in those classic times? What a treasure you have there. Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend.
jmb - I would have coal all over my laundry...hahahhaha

My aunt used this type of iron 36 years ago. She's now 76. And she doesn't do the ironing anymore. She has a maid. hehe....
Cool...I used to have the feel of using that once. Unfortunately, it caused me a bomb later on. The charcoal burnt a hole into my trousers. Haha ... Cool sharing here.
P/s E&O Hotel is an exclusive hotel in Penang. Quite costly but it's at the coastline of the town centre. Surrounding areas are where all the night spots happening are. The buffet spread is a must try :)
Yikes I can imagine that it is an iron that takes a lot of skill to use if you are not to burn the clothes! Nice choice for this week's theme
I think we used to have one at home too.. And a lot of people actually display this iron at home. I love looking at it, and when I was small, never stopped wondering how in the world anybody could iron anything with something so heavy!
yes a classic indeed. thanks for passing by my site.
that's a lovely classic. you know what? i know how to use that. We used that when I was still young and we had an abundance of dried coconut shell for charcoal.:)
Happy weekend! :)
A beautiful classic!! A person must have classic skill to use on of those irons and not dirty the linens.
Have a great weekend!
Thanks for your visit.
What a neat piece for today! I think I'd be pulling my hair out if I had to deal with ironing like that -- I don't have a lot of skill as it is.
A classic treasure. Can't imagine trying to use one of those today! Have a good weekend.
Very cool iron! I have a friend who WOULD love that!
A CLassic for sure!
Perfect take on this weeks theme of classic! I would have been working some other place than with the pressing of the whites in that day and age...can you even imagine the time women spent ironing? wow...thanks so much for your visit to my hunt today! I so appreciate your visits Pearl
I guess you really need a lot of practise to use such an item ^-^
Pearl, this one is really classic. As a matter of fact, I have seen one just like this in my Grandma's house. Never seen it in use, though, it was already obsolete then.
Thanks for visiting.
That's a great example of classic. I remember my grandmother having one of those.
You may find my Classic photos here.
I have never seen a iron like this one .. it looks very heavy...Thanks for sharing and visiting my place.

i have similar iron in my posession, but not an antique... brand new from Jogja... i love to collect 'nostalgic' momentos....
It's nice to have a few classic and antique decor in the house. I have an antique table fan bought at Jonker Street, Melaka a few years ago still in workable condition. My late great-grandma also left me an antique brooch after she passed on.
